Our Lab Presents at JMIH 2019

Last week, members from our lab attended the 2019 Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists in Snowbird, Utah. JMIH is an annual meeting where four societies-the American Elasmobranch Society, American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, Herpetologists’ League, and Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles-gather to share current research and network with other professionals in the field. Three of our students and our P.I., Matt Goode, attended and presented at this conference. John Bosak gave a very interesting talk about the effects of moon illumination on nightly snake behavior, Alexus Cazares gave a talk on Gila Monster (Heloderma suspectum) relative abundance at Stone Canyon, and Diego Huerta talked about the three rattlesnake species (Crotalus atrox, Crotalus tigris, and Crotalus molossus) that occur at Stone Canyon. Our P.I., Matt Goode, also gave an excellent talk about the King Cobra conservation work that he does in India, Indonesia, and Thailand. Overall, JMIH was a great opportunity for our students to present their work, learn about ongoing research, and meet many experts in the field.
